Professional experience

2013 - 2014      Scottish Ballet Winter Season (2013/14)

 

Invited to dance with Scottish Ballet during their Winter Season 2013-2014. I was given the opportunity to play a variety of roles in the world premiere tour of Hansel and Gretel; touring Scotland, England and Ireland with the company.

 

2011 - 2015      Ballet West Company

 

Toured annually in Ballet West productions of Swan Lake (2014 and 2012), The Nutcracker (2013) and Romeo and Juliet (2015 and 2011).

 

 

 

International and national competitions

2015                   43rd Prix de Lausanne

 

Selected to attend the prestigious 43rd Prix de Lausanne. One of only thirty-seven girls selected from over three hundred applicants and the only dancer selected from the United Kingdom.

 

2013                   Genée International Ballet Competition  - Bronze Medallist

 

Winner of a bronze medal at the Genée International Ballet Competition. Each year the competition is held at a different international location and in 2013 it was held in Glasgow, Scotland. I was the only Scottish candidate to make it to the final of the competition, which attracted over seventy competitors from around the world.

 

2013                   Phyllis Bedells Bursary

 

Performed at the Phyllis Bedells Bursary at the Royal Academy of Dance, London.

 

 

2012                  Royal Academy of Dance Senior Awards Day – Overall Winner

 

This competition was adjudicated by Scottish Ballet’s Artistic Director Christopher Hampson. I have won every junior and senior level of the RAD Scottish Awards.

 

2011                  Festival 4 Stars – Special Achievement Award

 

Winner of a Festival 4 Stars Special Achievement Award for excellence in dance and acting.

 

2010                  Genée Dance Challenge – Overall Winner

 

Winner of the nationwide Genée Dance Challenge, performing a classical piece choreographed by Ballet West’s Sara-Maria Barton. The competition was held at Birmingham Royal Ballet and was adjudicated by Royal Academy of Dance Artistic Director Lynn Wallis. As winner of the competition, I had the opportunity to perform at an exclusive event, ‘Supper with the Stars’, in Mayfair, London. Guests included several leading principal dancers from The Royal Ballet.

 

 

Classical training

2012 - 2015      Ballet West

 

Trained full-time at Ballet West in Scotland and was selected to study a BA(Hons) in Classical Ballet.

 

2001 - 2013      Royal Academy of Dance Examinations

 

Marks of Distinction in every Royal Academy of Dance Classical Ballet exam. This included a mark of 92 (with Distinction) in the Royal Academy of Dance Advanced 1 Classical Ballet examination: the highest mark in my school’s history at this level.

 

2009 - 2011      The Royal Ballet Summer School and Associate Programmes

 

Selected to attend The Royal Ballet Summer School at White Lodge. My performance at both the summer school and the Royal Ballet Associated Scheme led to me being offered a full-time place the The Royal Ballet School, London.

 

 

Awards and nominations in television and film

 

2011           “Best New Scottish Actress” at the Scottish Variety Awards

                     I received this award for playing the role of Lucy in BBC prime time drama Single Father.

 

2010           Bronze Sony Radio Academy Award

                    Daniel and Mary , in which I played the part of Mary, won a Bronze Sony Radio Academy Award in the category of Best Drama.

 

2004           Scottish BAFTA nomination for “Best First Time Performance”

                    Scottish BAFTA nomination for “Best First Time Performance” in short film Iota. I am the youngest ever Scottish BAFTA nominee.
